This show was recorded at the Brass Monkey in Kokomo. Chad, the manager and the brewer, Andrew rolled out the red carpet for the GBS. We tasted some fantastic beer and had a great time. Mikey Mason played a tribute to Huey Lewis and other fun songs. Not only is the Brass Monkey the smallest brewery setup that I have ever laid eyes on but it shows what other craft beer bars could implement if they wanted too. I highly recommend a visit to this place. Enjoy the show!

Great show guys. What an awesome brewer Andrew is. I totally dig this dude, and I dig how he brews.
What I really liked about this brewery was it’s Belgian-like tactics. It’s small, like many individual small town breweries in Belgium, where they say those who aren’t drinking beer are brewing beer. He brews Belgian beer, which is something I totally respect. And he experiments with ingredients (coriander, grape fruit, green tea, apples in a tripel, etc.). I have a lot of respect for brewers who branch out and aren’t afraid to show some balls and take big chances. I tip my hat to Brass Monkey, they’ve got brass balls.
Mikey Mason is becoming my favorite comedian, and not just because all of my favorites are dead now either. He’s quick - lightening quick. And his songs are topical, he changes shit on the fly. That takes more than talent. He’s a natural.
Oh, and nice Beer Safari Promo.
There’s a jungle of beer under your feet! JeffreyT, you’re really freakin’ cool saying those nice things about my show too, man. I really mean it. That is some serious high praise, and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it. I had a really long day today, so this was a really nice thing to listen to. If I only could have been in a brewery drinking today.
One more thing - did Dan Listermann really grind up cicadas and make a beer out of them? That sounds like an old wives tale - like the old cock ale in Charlie P’s book. Never believed that shit either.

I would hope that the awesome people on your great good beer show would give credit to the people at Great Fermentations that give good advice in person and on the phone to all the medal winners of the st fair beer competition. Anita, Tony, and Darrell give great advice on recipe formulation, fermentation-in-progress questions, and bottling/kegging questions. Darrell said that they give good advice because they don’t like drinking bad beers. Anita is the best at giving beer advice, but don’t bring in beers to their shop before noon, they hesitate trying them until later in the day.
