You Bastard!

This week’s show features “Arrogant Bastard“. This was a suggestion from a listener named Larry. A table of my friends put this beer to the test. Music was supplied by an experimental, three piece band called “Charlie Don’t Surf“. Thanks guys! As like last week, I could not remember the name of the last song. It was called “Dreary-Noise-Light”. The power of user comments revealed to me a new Indiana brewery sprouting up. The last beer of the night was a smooth-as-silk chocolate stout brewed by Upland.

Show number #13 is here

You guys talked about chocolate stouts on the show today and mentioned that you like the Upland Chocolate Stout but weren’t sure which others were available.

I’d Recommend that you also try the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, the Rogue Chocolate Stout, and the Young’s Double Chocolate Stout.

The Brooklyn is particularly good on draft if you can get it. The bottles are contract brewed by the Matt brewing company in Utica NY, however. They may not be as good as the draft depending on how you feel about the Matt beers. The Brooklyn Chocolate Stout is the only one of the three that doesn’t actually contain chocolate.

The Rogue Chocolate Stout is brewed on a base of Shakespear Stout with chocolate added. It’s a VERY nice beer IMHO. Smooth and toasty with a good balancing hop kick.

I haven’t been able to try the Young’s Double Chocolate Stout yet since it’s hard to find regularly in Atlanta. It comes from the independent Young’s brewery in England and is generally well-regarded by the beer nerds I know, however.

    Thanks,
    Diego

Thanks for airing our music on to your show.. It was definitely righteous.. I especially was suprised to hear that you didn’t cut any of the tracks up due to their length. I’m always supportive of people willing to do the nitty gritty and drink tons of beer in order to tell people like me, who don’t have the money to do so, what to drink so that we can put our money where it should count.

Thanks for introducing us to the podcasting community. I’m definitely a fan of the show and would also like to thank you for introducing me to the TNT show because that shit is downright humorous.

ps.) it is far better to be strange than normal.. normal people are easily forgotten and boring to boot. As far as I’m concerned there is no normal.. only varying degrees of strange.. :) Keep up the good work.. and I’ll continue listening.

#13 was another great show! It looks like this Tuesday will be my first sober podcast. I’m on Vicodin and an antibotic for a dental problem, so I can’t have any beer for 10 days. I’ll try not to be too hateful!

I bought one of the last Dreadnaughts at Heorot and sent it to my brother in Tennessee. I told him to listen to your show featuring Dreadnaught either before, during, or after drinking the beer.

I’m just listening to #13 right now. Great show! There was a comment along the lines of, “If there was a pale ale in a can, shit, I’d drink that!” Well, Oskar Blues (http://www.oskarblues.com) in Lyons, CO has been selling their Dale’s Pale Ale as well as Old Chub (Scottish ale) in cans for years! They think there’s no better way to carry a beer up a mountain than in a can. Can’t arue with that!
